華亭董氏，庭前有虬松一株，
枝幹扶疏，亭亭如蓋，有雙鸛
結巢其顛，後雄被彈死，其雌
孑然獨處，日夕哀鳴，越數日，
亦死。

The Dong family of Huating had a pine tree in front of the yard. Its branches were scarce but its foliage was thick. A pair of cranes built a nest on the tree top; later the male crane was shot to death. But the female crane had to stay alone. It cried tragically both day and night. Several days later, it also died.
