佛光山開山星雲大師希望佛陀紀念館的建築、繪畫、電影等，讓參觀者得到心靈的啟迪。在佛館菩提廣場十八羅漢後兩側的廊道壁面，刻有22幅「佛陀行化圖」浮雕，是佛陀一生重要的弘化事迹；並有星雲大師書寫古德偈語、讚佛詩偈等書法。佛陀行化圖是由星雲大師親挑選內容，由藝術家施金輝所繪，構圖具戲劇張力，呈現佛陀慈悲喜捨的精髓。參訪者可領悟佛陀慈悲偉大的教育，不捨一切眾生給予示教利喜、應機說法的因緣。

Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the founder of the Buddha Museum, hopes that visitors can be inspired through architecture, paintings, and motion pictures. There are twenty-two bas-reliefs set in the walls lining the walkways on either side of the Bodhi Wisdom Concourse. Each relief depicts a story from the Buddha’s life. There are also twenty-two Buddhist Verses written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun using One-Stroke calligraphy. The bas-reliefs drafted by Shi Jinhui express the spirit of the Buddha’s Dharma propagation. Through each story, one would be able to realize the Buddha taught and converted sentient being under different circumstance.
