見其生，不忍見其死，
聞其聲，不忍食其肉，
應起悲心，勿貪口腹。

Seeing them born, I could not bear to see them die. Hearing their sound, I could not bear to eat their meat. Thou should give rise to a compassionate heart, and do not indulge your desire for eating.
