有命盡貪生，無分人與畜，
最怕是殺烹，最苦是割肉，
擒執未施刀，魂驚氣先窒，
喉斷叫聲絕，顛倒三起伏，
念此惻肺肝，何忍縱口腹。

All creatures love their lives, in this there is no distinction between man and animal. What is most feared is killing and cooking! What is most painful is cutting your flesh! Caught and held before a knife, it is scared to the limit and suffocated first. Its throat is cut and its cries are stilled, rearing up and down three times before collapsing. Thought of this sadden me deeply. How unbearable to indulge in your gluttony! All living beings do not want to be hurt or killed. Do we really have the heart to cause such pain in another living being?
