六群比丘之一，雖品性不端，然才華橫溢，善說法要，曾是末利夫人的門師。一次夜行乞食，因膚色漆黑發亮，有一妊娠婦人於閃電中乍見，驚怖流產，佛陀因此制定過午不得乞食之戒。證果以後，對過去所為深深懺悔，發大慚愧心，發願教化舍衛城千家的夫婦證果，後來果如其願，被譽為教化第一。

Kalodayin was one of the six bhiksus who often acted improperly. However, he was talented and eloquent in explaining the Dharma, and was once the teacher of Queen Mailika. One evening, when he was out on alms round, a pregnant woman was so terrified by his dark complexion under the flashing lightning that she suffered a miscarriage. The Buddha thus established the precept that monastics must not go on alms rounds afternoon. When Kalodayin attained Arhatship, he repented his past wrongdoings and felt deeply ashamed. He vowed to bring a thousand couples in Sravasti to enlightenment. He later fulfilled his vow and was known for being foremost in teaching.
